5 Tips To Make Each Year The Most Successful And Fulfilling
How many opportunities have you lost? How many times have you failed yourself? There is a saying that on your last day on earth, the person you became will meet the person you could have become. The biggest regrets are not always about doing, but rather not doing something – not getting a degree, not asking that woman/man out, not changing a job, not trying harder… No matter what you have achieved so far, the question is what you will do with the rest of your life to be sure you won’t regret wasted time and lost opportunities in your elderly years. Our tips will help you achieve the maximum of your potential.

Don't be afraid to step out of your comfort zone

According to the Cambridge English Dictionary a comfort zone is «a situation in which you feel comfortable and in which your ability and determination are not being tested». Routine is cozy, routine is so comforting. But if you do only the things that do not challenge you, you don’t grow. If you embrace the risks, if you do what you fear you will get to know yourself better, open new traits of your personality and what’s the most important – you will expand your comfort zone. Volunteer, try a new hobby or, at least, eat something unusual. Every little step out of your comfort zone is a step towards a more fulfilling life!

Make sure you have goals and they are what you really want

“My philosophy of life is that if we make up our mind what we are going to make of our lives, then work hard toward that goal, we never lose – somehow we always win out.” ~ Ronald Reagan. There are different approaches to goals… Some people say that goals can be misleading: you make efforts, invest time and energy to achieve the goal, but the achievement of the goal does not guarantee you happiness. So the first step is to understand what you really want in life. Try to stay away from social pressure, the dreams of your parents or the goals you set before. Think about who you are today, what makes you happy and what you feel passionate about. If you know what you really want, the next step should be setting an achievable goal. Once the goal and objectives are set, you know which steps to take.

Changes are inevitable. Be flexible

The world has never been more dynamic. Socio-political changes, economic uncertainty and technological innovations create both challenges and opportunities in our professional and private lives. Changes constantly challenge our lifestyle and raise the bar for professional skills. Resistance to change is a big problem: leaders are looking for flexible employees. Professionals of today should be able to learn new skills, use new technologies and adjust to new environments. The more flexible you are, the more you are prepared for success in this fast-changing world.

New technologies

The rapid advance of technology has been literally changing the world we live in. Just in the last couple of years business world embraced cloud computing, mobile payments, real-time and Omni channel communication. What’s next? Definitely something even more amazing! The more you are open to new technologies, the more productive and successful you are. However, the saying of Elbert Hubbard “One machine can do the work of fifty ordinary men. No machine can do the work of one extraordinary man” seems to be more than relevant now.

“The good life is built with good relationships”

Have you heard about the longest study on happiness? The Harvard Study of Adult Development have been tracking the lives of 724 people for 75 years. Robert Waldinger, Harvard clinical professor of psychiatry and director of this wonderful study summarised the current findings of the research. In order to be happier and healthier you need… good relationships! The study proves that people having deep and loving relationships with their families, friends and community live happier, stay in good mood even when they feel physical pain and have a better memory in the elderly.

So, we still have quite some time before the end of 2017. Let’s invest our time in building good relationships with people around, let’s meet our greatest fears, try something new and embrace all technological advances our world has to offer. We wish you to enjoy 2017 and be proud of yourself at the end of the year!
