    Yana Prokopets 14 March 2017
Many of you have seen your newest team member MIA (My Intelligent Assistant). MIA is a chat bot and you can ask her questions about Bitrix24 or anything, really. We’ve created MIA with two goals in mind. First, this bot helps with new user engagement by encouraging them to start talking with other Bitrix24 users. Second, the bot helps these new users learn about Bitrix24 by answering user questions.

As we are beta testing MIA, we are looking forward to hearing your feedback how MIA helps you and what improvements you’d welcome. If you’d like to stop receiving MIA’s notifications, simply enter this command – “/disableNotify welcome”.

  • Sales Funnel Guide: 4 Keys to Success

    Yuliya Skorobogatova 2 March 2017
A sales funnel, sometimes referred to as a marketing, purchase or revenue funnel, is a graphic illustration of the overall journey that a prospect goes through before finally becoming a customer.

Its shape isn’t accidental, though. While the word “sales” clearly indicates the nature of this process, “funnel” represents the sales principle in general. Regardless of offer or niche, each sale begins with many potential customers at the top, necks down as it loses leads and concludes at the narrow bottom, where the purchase is finally made.

  • The Best Gantt Chart Practices in Project Management

    Yuliya Skorobogatova 27 February 2017

A Gantt chart is one of the most popular tools used in project management for showcasing various activities and clear objectives displayed against the planned time for their completion, as well as the exact time of their actual duration. Unlike other methods, the Gantt chart uses a visual approach to clearly show upcoming tasks, as well as the time allocated for their development, and the next planned step.

  • Social CRM is dead. Long live SocialCRM 2.0

    Dmitry Davydov 22 February 2017

Have you heard about social CRM lately? Probably not. The reason for that is simple — old social CRM model is dead, especially since the famed ‘LinkedOut’ event. For those not in the know, a bunch of early social CRM systems specialized in harvesting LinkedIn data. LinkedIn decided that this information is far too valuable, that LinkedIn users don’t enjoy being spammed, so they restricted API access to a group of selected CRM systems.

Likewise, all ideas to use other social networks for prospecting, be they Facebook or Twitter or Instagram, have mostly failed as well. And, to be perfectly honest, this outcome could have been easily predicted. After all, social networks have the right and the obligation to protect their users from unsolicited marketing, and protecting personal data is the key to this process.

Another early social CRM promise was data enrichment. CRM veteran Jon Ferrara founded Nimble CRM with this promise. It went something like this. Suppose you have a prospect named Peter. Peter uses social media, like Facebook and Twitter. If we import his recent tweets and Facebook posts to his CRM profile, then our sales person can sell to Peter more efficiently, because they’ll know what’s going on in Peter’s life from his social media activities.

Alas, this promise didn’t pan out either. Seven years later, Nimble, like all other early social CRM tools, is very much a niche player with a very limited audience. Compare this to social media management and social listening tools, like Hootsuite, Buffer or SproutSocial, some of which claim to have more than 10 million users and valuation that exceeds one billion dollars. Ouch!

Does this mean social CRM is dead? Well, yes and no. Yes, because prospecting, social listening and enrichment have demonstrated their practical limits and usefulness over the past 7–10 years. We know what works, what doesn’t work and to what extent. No, because social network potential is far beyond simple prospecting and data enrichment tools.

  • Many of you asked if it’s possible to share your task templates with other users in Bitrix24 account. Now it’s possible and easy to do. First, open new template creation form or edit the template you want to share with others. Then open the full form and scroll to the very bottom until you see Access Permissions.

Now simply click ‘Add’ and share the template with other users. Please note that you can give ‘Read’ or ‘Full’ access level. If you give full access rights, that user will be able to edit your task template. Read only access right gives other users the ability to create tasks based on the template without being able to edit the template itself.

  • Fast Bitrix24 Integration: Webhook Street Magic

    Yana Prokopets 30 January 2017
As you may know, Bitrix24 includes extensive REST API that can be used to extend Bitrix24 features and integrate third-party systems. The REST methods can create and edit CRM entities and tasks, post messages to Activity Stream – in fact, they can do almost anything.

Until recently, however, a seemingly nonchalant REST developer's life was troubled by a looming shadow of OAuth 2.0 protocol which had been a requirement, and a tricky one to implement at that. Even though it has now been quite a while since it was introduced, and is currently in use by major software companies, many developers are still faint-hearted when the protocol needs to be implemented from scratch. Another disadvantage is you would have to update authentication tokens now and again should your requirement be an automated, unsupervised continuous data exchange with Bitrix24.

Sometimes all a developer is asked of is connect a Bitrix24 instance to a known third party system, or just to a simple web form. Say the boss suffering from a terrible headache after a yesterday's backyard party suddenly wants to have warehouse reports posted to Activity Stream. What say you?

At ease, gentlemen. We have just made your life easier: a new Bitrix24 integration system was devised, and it's just a perfect fit for in-house solutions. I'm talking about the notorious web hooks. Well, notorious may be a wrong word indeed: they are famous for making developer happy!

With webhooks you can take advantage of the REST API methods while saving the trouble of having to implement OAuth 2.0.
